How to Become an Organic Entrepreneur – Study Visit in Bordeaux, France
20 students from North Macedonia, from the two schools, SOU Bogdanci (textile production department), SOU Goce Delcev (winery production department) visited the city of Bordeaux in France. In their two weeks stay, they visited 5 local wineries for organic production as well as 5 organic textile industries.
Students also attended classes within “Darwin”, a multi-dimensional project that is the biggest centre of eco-responsible activity and creative economy in Europe. This study visit opportunity helped the students to gain knowledge and practical skills on sustainable organic textile and organic wine production.
The programme for organic entrepreneurship in Bordeaux was designed for aspiring students in order to learn and practice the skills they need to run a small-scale organic company in the field of wine or textile production. Through attending daily lectures, discussions, study visits and demonstrations on topics including organic grape and cotton production, soil science, business planning, business modelling and direct marketing, as well as cooperatively managing the student company, the students received a thorough education in management of small organic companies.
The students also learned to conduct field research through variety trials and group projects. On the other hand, daily field trips to regional wine and textile companies allowed students to see a variety of organic production styles and talk to experienced producers.
